GeoDynamics Resesearch concluded two internal passive seismic exploration projects over a Geothermal field in Italy for geophysical research purpuses.

The main objective was to define and give a valuation of the background seismic noise within the block before drilling. In order to keep the objective, data have been acquired using 3D passive seimic stations in continuous acquisition over the entire block.

The low frequency passive seismic Energy has been quantified. Moreover, Microtremors in the reserve were observed and localized in terms of the source and the Tomography have been extracted.

GeoDynamics Research Hydorcarbon Exploration projects : <default>

GeoDynamics Research’s IPDS® technology is used in Hydrocarbon exploration to localize potential reservoirs. The objective of the Geodynamics Research IPDS® approach then is to acquire and analize Passive Seismic Data, using in house developed software tools with different forms of signal analysis methodology.

The Hydrocarbon Reservoir seismic system is treated as a Seismic Energy exchanger system which absorbs energy from the Earth’s Natural Background Seismic Noise, and gives back Energy in seismic waves form within a low Frequency Range.

The relesed Energy comes from the seismic waves which cross the media with high compressibility (for example a hydrocarbon or vapor saturated rock) and from the fluid movment inside the porous media or fractures which generate stress with consequent microfractures inside the same reservoir rock giving back seismic energy in an elastic wave form.

Geothermal reservoirs are characterized by fluids and vapor movements under high pressure and temperatures which provocates microcracks within the reservoir rock in the same way as a hydrocarbon reservoir.
