The evolution of Passive Seismic Spectroscopy at Low Frequency started in 1995 and the GeoDynamics Research group was founded in 2003 with the Research and Development Center in Trento – Italy.
Infrasonic Passive Differential Spectroscopy IPDS® is one of the lowest invasive technology for Hydrocarbon Reservoirs Detection and Monitoring.
IPDS® is predicated on the observation that a Hydrocarbon Reservoir operates on the Seismic Background Noise, giving a transfer function with dominant characteristics which depends on the types of sub-layers for frequencies less than 10 Hz.
The objective of the Geodynamics Research IPDS® approach then is to Acquire and Process Passive Seismic Data, using in house developed software tools with different forms of signal analysis methodology.
All the data processing with all the analysis and interpretation is done in the Frequency, Time, Space and in the Seismic Energy domains, to identify, isolate and quantify all the spectral characteristics which comes from a potencial Hydrocarbon Reservoir.
The Hydrocarbon Reservoir seismic system is treated as a seismic energy exchanger system which absorb energy from the Earth’s Natural Background Seismic Noise, described by the Peterson’s model, and gives back Energy in seismic waves form within a low Frequency Range.
GeoDynamics Research S.r.l. -Italy, in cooperation with Oil Companies, Physics and Earth Science departments of various universities, is the center of the scientific research and development of Passive Seismic Technologies applied in Oil and Gas Industry.
